BID Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: BID

Official Full Name: BH3 interacting domain death agonistprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a death agonist that heterodimerizes with either agonist BAX or antagonist BCL2, and thus regulate apoptosis. The encoded protein is a member of the BCL-2 family of cell death regulators. It is a mediator of mitochondrial damage induced by caspase-8 (CASP8); CASP8 cleaves this encoded protein, and the COOH-terminal part translocates to mitochondria where it triggers cytochrome c release. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2020]

Background

BID Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cell lines designed to study the biological functions and implications of the BID gene, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis (programmed cell death). The product features cells in which the BID gene has been effectively disrupted, allowing researchers to explore the cascading effects on cellular survival, proliferation, and death pathways. By generating these knockout models, scientists can investigate the intrinsic apoptotic mechanism and its relationship with various diseases, particularly cancers, where apoptosis regulation is often compromised.

These cell lines utilize CRISPR-Cas9 technology to ensure precise and efficient gene editing, resulting in a loss-of-function phenotype for BID. The knockout effect leads to significant alterations in apoptosis signaling, making these lines indispensable for studying therapeutic resistance, cancer metabolism, and mitochondrial dynamics. Furthermore, they serve as a vital tool for investigating the roles of BID in various physiological and pathological contexts, including neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders, and tissue repair mechanisms.

In both research and clinical settings, the BID Gene Knockout Cell Lines provide a unique opportunity to unravel the complexities of apoptotic pathways, ultimately contributing to the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Compared to traditional methods of gene knockdown, such as RNA interference, these knockout lines offer a more permanent solution for functional studies, yielding clearer and more quantifiable results.

Designed for ease of use, these cell lines come ready to culture and utilize in a variety of assays, making them an efficient addition to any laboratory's toolkit. Their genetically modified nature allows for highly reproducible experiments, enhancing the reliability of research outcomes. Our company, committed to advancing cellular biology, brings years of expertise in producing high-quality cell lines that empower scientists and clinicians alike. With our BID Gene Knockout Cell Lines, researchers can enhance their understanding of apoptosis and its implications, paving the way for innovative approaches to complex diseases.
