RFXAP Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: RFXAP

Official Full Name: regulatory factor X associated proteinprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: Major histocompatibility (MHC) class II molecules are transmembrane proteins that have a central role in development and control of the immune system. The protein encoded by this gene, along with regulatory factor X-associated ankyrin-containing protein and regulatory factor-5, forms a complex that binds to the X box motif of certain MHC class II gene promoters and activates their transcription. Once bound to the promoter, this complex associates with the non-DNA-binding factor MHC class II transactivator, which controls the cell type specificity and inducibility of MHC class II gene expression. Mutations in this gene have been linked to bare lymphocyte syndrome type II, complementation group D. Transcript variants utilizing different polyA signals have been found for this gene. Background

RFXAP Gene Knockout Cell Lines are engineered cellular models in which the RFXAP gene, critical for the regulation of MHC Class II expression, has been effectively disrupted. These cell lines serve as vital tools for studying the mechanisms of immune response and the role of antigen presentation in various diseases, including autoimmune disorders and infections. By providing a platform where the expression of RFXAP is absent, researchers can investigate compensatory pathways and the downstream effects on immune cell interactions, giving insights into possible therapeutic targets.

The primary function of these knockout cell lines is to facilitate an understanding of the biological processes governed by RFXAP, particularly its influence on the assembly and transport of MHC Class II molecules. The disruption of RFXAP leads to a reduced synthesis of MHC Class II proteins, thereby affecting the presentation of antigens to CD4+ T cells. This mechanism is crucial for elucidating the intricacies of adaptive immunity and serves as a baseline for creating models of immune dysregulation.

Scientifically, RFXAP Gene Knockout Cell Lines are indispensable in both research and clinical settings. They are employed in studies investigating the pathogenesis of diseases like type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, where the dysregulation of antigen presentation plays a pivotal role. Furthermore, these models aid in drug development processes focused on immune modulation and the creation of targeted therapies.

When compared to traditional cell lines, RFXAP Gene Knockout Cell Lines provide specific advantages: they offer a more accurate representation of the biological effects associated with the absence of RFXAP, reducing confounding variables present in wild-type models. Their precise genetic engineering allows for reproducible results and increased reliability in experimental reproducibility, making them highly sought-after by researchers.

For scientists and clinicians aiming to deepen their understanding of immune mechanisms or develop novel interventions, RFXAP Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a critical investment in advancing immunological research. Our company specializes in providing high-quality biological products that meet the diverse needs of the scientific community, assuring you of excellence and reliability in your research endeavors.
