Gene: RASA4
Official Full Name: RAS p21 protein activator 4provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the GAP1 family of GTPase-activating proteins that suppresses the Ras/mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway in response to Ca(2+). Stimuli that increase intracellular Ca(2+) levels result in the translocation of this protein to the plasma membrane, where it activates Ras GTPase activity. Consequently, Ras is converted from the active GTP-bound state to the inactive GDP-bound state and no longer activates downstream pathways that regulate gene expression, cell growth, and differentiation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

RASA4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular models engineered to lack the RASA4 gene, which is critical for regulating various signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. These knockout cell lines provide researchers with a powerful tool to investigate the biological role of RASA4 in cellular processes, including apoptosis, differentiation, and response to external stimuli.
The key function of RASA4 is its role as a negative regulator of Ras-mediated signaling pathways. By generating knockout cell lines, scientists can elucidate the consequences of RASA4 deficiency, observing changes in cellular behavior such as enhanced proliferation or altered apoptosis rates. This mechanistic understanding is invaluable for dissecting the fundamental roles of RASA4 in both normal physiology and disease states, particularly in cancer and metabolic disorders where Ras signaling is frequently dysregulated.
From a scientific perspective, RASA4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines play a pivotal role in translational research and drug discovery. They serve as models for studying the efficacy of therapeutic agents targeting Ras signaling pathways and provide insights for developing novel interventions in Ras-driven malignancies. Their importance cannot be overstated, as they facilitate our understanding of oncogenesis and enable the identification of biomarkers for targeted therapies.
What sets RASA4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from other genetic models is their robust validation, ensuring reproducibility and reliability of results. These cell lines save valuable research time and resources, offering a streamlined approach to genomics research without the variability associated with traditional knockout methodologies.
For researchers and clinicians alike, the value of RASA4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their versatility and specificity. They are not just a premium research tool; they enable deeper insights and collaboration opportunities in the ever-evolving field of molecular biology and biotechnology.
