NECTIN4 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: NECTIN4

Official Full Name: nectin cell adhesion molecule 4provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the nectin family. The encoded protein contains two immunoglobulin-like (Ig-like) C2-type domains and one Ig-like V-type domain. It is involved in cell adhesion through trans-homophilic and -heterophilic interactions. It is a single-pass type I membrane protein. The soluble form is produced by proteolytic cleavage at the cell surface by the metalloproteinase ADAM17/TACE. The secreted form is found in both breast tumor cell lines and breast tumor patients. Mutations in this gene are the cause of ectodermal dysplasia-syndactyly syndrome type 1, an autosomal recessive disorder. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found but the full-length nature of the variant has not been determined.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Background

NECTIN4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are advanced cellular models developed to study the functional role of the NECTIN4 gene, which is known for its involvement in cell adhesion, immune response modulation, and tumor progression. These cell lines are engineered using state-of-the-art CRISPR/Cas9 technology to achieve a complete knockout of NECTIN4, allowing for precise investigation into its biological functions and implications in various pathological conditions.

The mechanism underlying these cell lines involves the targeted inactivation of the NECTIN4 gene, resulting in the ablation of its protein product on the cell surface. This knockout configuration enables researchers to observe alterations in cellular behavior, including changes in adhesion properties, proliferation rates, and interactions with other cell types, thereby elucidating the gene's role in cancer metastasis and immune evasion.

The scientific importance of NECTIN4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is profound, as they serve as essential tools in cancer biology, immunology, and drug development. In research settings, these models can elucidate the mechanistic pathways through which NECTIN4 contributes to tumorigenesis, thereby paving the way for targeted therapies. Clinically, they hold potential for evaluating strategies aimed at modulating immune responses in cancer and infectious diseases, making them invaluable for translational research.

Compared to alternative models, such as wild-type or overexpressing cell lines, NECTIN4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines provide a unique and specific vantage point to observe the absence of NECTIN4, thereby reducing background noise in experiments. Their precise dissemination of the gene's loss-of-function effects offers clearer interpretations of experimental data.

For researchers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical developers, investing in NECTIN4 Gene Knockout Cell Lines allows for a more accurate depiction of NECTIN4's biological functions and therapeutic potential. They stand out as pivotal resources for groundbreaking discoveries in the quest to advance cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes.
