ICAM2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ICAM2

Official Full Name: intercellular adhesion molecule 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. All ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins, contain 2-9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. This protein may play a role in lymphocyte recirculation by blocking LFA-1-dependent cell adhesion. It mediates adhesive interactions important for antigen-specific immune response, NK-cell mediated clearance, lymphocyte recirculation, and other cellular interactions important for immune response and surveillance. Several transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

ICAM2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular models engineered to lack the Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 2 (ICAM2) gene, which plays a critical role in cell-cell adhesion and immune response modulation. These knockout cell lines provide a platform for scientists to study the contribution of ICAM2 in various biological processes, particularly its involvement in leukocyte adhesion during inflammation and immune responses.

The primary function of ICAM2 is to facilitate the binding of leukocytes to endothelial cells, a process crucial for immune surveillance and recruitment during inflammatory responses. By disrupting the expression of ICAM2, these knockout cell lines enable researchers to elucidate the mechanisms through which immune cells interact with vascular tissues and to investigate the downstream effects on inflammatory signaling pathways. This model is especially relevant for studies focused on inflammatory diseases, cancer metastasis, and autoimmune disorders.

In terms of scientific importance, ICAM2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are invaluable in both basic and translational research settings. They offer insight into the fundamental roles of adhesion molecules in cellular behavior and provide a robust system for testing therapies that target immune interactions. These models also serve as essential tools for drug development, offering researchers the ability to screen novel compounds aiming to modulate immune responses effectively.

One of the key advantages of ICAM2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is their specificity and reproducibility compared to traditional genetic manipulation techniques. These cell lines are pre-validated and ready for use, greatly reducing the time and resources typically required to create stable knockout models. Additionally, their consistent performance allows for more reliable experimental outcomes, ensuring that researchers can trust the data produced in their studies.

For researchers and clinicians focused on immune function and diseases associated with aberrant cell adhesion, these knockout cell lines provide an unparalleled resource for advancing understanding and therapeutic strategy development. Our company specializes in the production of high-quality biological models designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern research, ensuring that scientists have access to the tools necessary to make breakthrough discoveries.
