TRAF6 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: TRAF6

Official Full Name: TNF receptor associated factor 6provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF receptor associated factor (TRAF) protein family. TRAF proteins are associated with, and mediate signal transduction from, members of the TNF receptor superfamily. This protein has an amino terminal RING domain which is followed by four zinc-finger motifs, a central coiled-coil region and a highly conserved carboxyl terminal domain, known as the TRAF-C domain and mediates signaling from members of the TNF receptor superfamily as well as the Toll/IL-1 family. Signals from receptors such as CD40, TNFSF11/RANCE and IL-1 have been shown to be mediated by this protein. This protein also interacts with various protein kinases including IRAK1/IRAK, SRC and PKCzeta, which provides a link between distinct signaling pathways. This protein functions as a signal transducer in the NF-kappaB pathway that activates IkappaB kinase (IKK) in response to proinflammatory cytokines. The interaction of this protein with UBE2N/UBC13, and UBE2V1/UEV1A, which are ubiquitin conjugating enzymes catalyzing the formation of polyubiquitin chains, has been found to be required for IKK activation by this protein. This protein also interacts with the transforming growth factor (TGF) beta receptor complex and is required for Smad-independent activation of the JNK and p38 kinases. The protein encoded by this gene is a key molecule in antiviral innate and antigen-specific immune responses. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2021]

Background

TRAF6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specially engineered cellular models that lack the expression of the TRAF6 (TNF Receptor-Associated Factor 6) gene, a crucial mediator in various cellular signaling pathways, particularly those related to immune response and inflammation. These knockout cell lines enable researchers to study the specific functions of TRAF6 in cellular mechanisms such as NF-κB activation, autophagy, and apoptosis.

The primary function of the TRAF6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to provide a controlled environment to investigate the consequences of TRAF6 deficiency. By eliminating this gene, researchers can observe changes in intracellular signaling pathways, cellular responses to cytokines, and overall immune system functioning. This capability is particularly important in understanding autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation, and cancer, where TRAF6 plays a pivotal role in disease pathology.

Scientific research has increasingly recognized the significance of targeting TRAF6 for therapeutic purposes. TRAF6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines serve as invaluable tools in preclinical studies aimed at developing new drugs that could modulate inflammatory responses or improve immune system functions. These models can also facilitate the discovery of novel biomarkers for disease prognosis and therapeutic responses.

Unlike traditional cell lines or overexpressing models, the TRAF6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer a unique advantage by providing an authentic representation of the gene knockout effects, minimizing off-target effects and allowing for more precise interpretations of the results. Their robustness and reproducibility make them particularly attractive for academic research, pharmaceutical development, and biotechnology applications.

For researchers and clinicians engaged in immunology, oncology, or translational medicine, utilizing TRAF6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines can significantly enhance the understanding of complex biological systems and disease mechanisms. Our company specializes in providing high-quality cellular products tailored for groundbreaking research and therapeutic advancements, establishing us as a trusted partner in the scientific community.
