ITGAV Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ITGAV

Official Full Name: integrin subunit alpha Vprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The product of this gene belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha subunit and a beta subunit that function in cell surface adhesion and signaling. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate light and heavy chains that comprise the alpha V subunit. This subunit associates with beta 1, beta 3, beta 5, beta 6 and beta 8 subunits. The heterodimer consisting of alpha V and beta 3 subunits is also known as the vitronectin receptor. This integrin may regulate angiogenesis and cancer progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Note that the integrin alpha 5 and integrin alpha V subunits are encoded by distinct genes. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Background

ITGAV Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular models designed to specifically delete the ITGAV gene, which encodes the integrin alpha V subunit, a critical component of various integrin complexes that regulate cell adhesion and migration. By utilizing advanced genome-editing techniques, these cell lines provide researchers with a powerful tool to investigate the functional role of ITGAV in cellular processes such as tumorigenesis, immune response, and tissue remodeling.

The primary mechanism of action involves the interruption of the ITGAV expression pattern, allowing for the observation of resultant phenotypic changes, signaling alterations, and functional outcomes in vitro. This enables a detailed study of the integrin-mediated pathways that affect cellular behaviors such as proliferation, survival, and motility.

In scientific research and clinical settings, ITGAV Gene Knockout Cell Lines serve as a vital resource to explore the molecular underpinnings of various diseases, particularly cancer and autoimmune disorders, where integrin signaling is often dysregulated. These models not only enhance basic biological understanding but also aid in the development of therapeutic strategies that target integrin functions, making them indispensable for translational research.

Among the advantages that differentiate ITGAV Gene Knockout Cell Lines from alternatives is their validated knockout efficiency and stability, ensuring consistent experimental results. Furthermore, they provide the ability to perform comparative analyses with wild-type cell lines, enriching data interpretation regarding the role of ITGAV in pathophysiology.

The value of this product lies in its capacity to facilitate significant discoveries in integrin biology, contributing to improved therapeutic interventions.
