ADGRE5 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ADGRE5

Official Full Name: adhesion G protein-coupled receptor E5provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the EGF-TM7 subfamily of adhesion G protein-coupled receptors, which mediate cell-cell interactions. These proteins are cleaved by self-catalytic proteolysis into a large extracellular subunit and seven-span transmembrane subunit, which associate at the cell surface as a receptor complex. The encoded protein may play a role in cell adhesion as well as leukocyte recruitment, activation and migration, and contains multiple extracellular EGF-like repeats which mediate binding to chondroitin sulfate and the cell surface complement regulatory protein CD55. Expression of this gene may play a role in the progression of several types of cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms with 3 to 5 EGF-like repeats have been observed for this gene. This gene is found in a cluster with other EGF-TM7 genes on the short arm of chromosome 19. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Background

ADGRE5 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a unique resource for researchers focusing on the role of the adhesion G protein-coupled receptor E5 (ADGRE5) in various biological processes. These cell lines offer a defined genetic background wherein the ADGRE5 gene has been systematically disrupted, enabling scientists to elucidate the gene's function and its implications in cellular signaling and disease pathways.

The primary mechanism of action of the ADGRE5 knockout involves the absence of functional ADGRE5 protein, which plays an integral role in cellular adhesion, migration, and immune response modulation. By using these knockout cell lines, researchers can study the downstream effects of ADGRE5 deficiency, providing critical insights into its role in pathologies such as cancer metastasis, immune disorders, and inflammatory responses.

From a scientific perspective, the ADGRE5 knockout cell lines are invaluable for both basic and applied research. They facilitate the investigation of receptor-mediated signaling pathways and can be instrumental in drug discovery, particularly in developing therapeutics targeting ADGRE5-related mechanisms. Moreover, they have utility in translational research, where understanding the receptor's involvement in disease states could lead to novel intervention strategies.

Compared to traditional wild-type cell lines, our ADGRE5 knockout cell lines provide a definitive approach to studying gene function without the complexities introduced by gene editing techniques that might cause off-target effects. Furthermore, they come validated for various assays, ensuring reliable performance in experiments.

For researchers and clinicians alike, the value of the ADGRE5 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to provide a clear, unambiguous system for dissecting the multifaceted roles of ADGRE5. This specificity empowers users to drive their inquiries efficiently and effectively while minimizing experimental variances.
