ULBP1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ULBP1

Official Full Name: UL16 binding protein 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a ligand of natural killer group 2, member D (NKG2D), an immune system-activating receptor on NK cells and T-cells. Binding of the encoded ligand to NKG2D leads to activation of several signal transduction pathways, including those of JAK2, STAT5, ERK and PI3K kinase/Akt. Also, in cytomegalovirus-infected cells, this ligand binds the UL16 glycoprotein and is prevented from activating the immune system. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Background

ULBP1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular models wherein the ULBP1 gene, known for its role in the regulation of immune responses, has been selectively disrupted. These knockout cell lines are instrumental in studying the biological function of ULBP1, including its involvement in natural killer (NK) cell activation and immune evasion by cancer cells. By providing a controlled environment to observe the effects of ULBP1 absence, researchers can gain insights into its mechanisms of action, particularly regarding immune surveillance and tumor microenvironments.

The key functions of ULBP1 involve its interaction with the NKG2D receptor on NK cells, which triggers cellular responses that lead to targeted destruction of abnormal cells. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, scientists can delineate the specific pathways and signaling cascades activated or inhibited in the absence of ULBP1, thereby elucidating the gene's role in tumor immunology. This understanding is crucial, as it could lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies to enhance anti-tumor immunity.

In the realms of research and clinical applications, ULBP1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are indispensable for developing cancer therapies that aim to reactivate innate immune responses. Their ability to serve as accurate models for investigating the interaction between cancer cells and the immune system offers a critical advantage in preclinical drug evaluation and in understanding cancer biology.

Compared to alternative cell models, these knockout lines provide a high degree of specificity and relevance. Unlike standard cell lines that may express ULBP1 variably, the knockout cells allow for rigorous experimental controls to significantly reduce confounding variables, offering clearer interpretations of experimental outcomes.

For researchers and clinicians focusing on cancer immunotherapy, the ULBP1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are essential tools that facilitate groundbreaking studies and can yield pivotal advancements in the quest for effective cancer treatments. Our company specializes in delivering high-quality biological products with rigorous validation, ensuring that researchers have access to reliable and cutting-edge tools for their scientific inquiries.
