SCGB1D2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: SCGB1D2

Official Full Name: secretoglobin family 1D member 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the lipophilin subfamily, part of the uteroglobin superfamily, and is an ortholog of prostatein, the major secretory glycoprotein of the rat ventral prostate gland. Lipophilin gene products are widely expressed in normal tissues, especially in endocrine-responsive organs. Assuming that human lipophilins are the functional counterparts of prostatein, they may be transcriptionally regulated by steroid hormones, with the ability to bind androgens, other steroids and possibly bind and concentrate estramustine, a chemotherapeutic agent widely used for prostate cancer. Although the gene has been reported to be on chromosome 10, this sequence appears to be from a cluster of genes on chromosome 11 that includes mammaglobin 2. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

SCGB1D2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent an advanced biological tool derived from the targeted deletion of the SCGB1D2 gene, which encodes a protein involved in various physiological processes, including mucin regulation and immune responses. These cell lines facilitate comprehensive studies of the biological consequences of SCGB1D2 loss, enabling researchers to elucidate the gene's function at the molecular level.

The primary mechanism of action involves specific gene editing strategies, such as CRISPR-Cas9 or TALEN technology, which create precise knockouts, allowing for the exploration of cellular pathways that could be impacted by the absence of the SCGB1D2 gene. By utilizing these cell lines, researchers can better understand disease mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and potentially identify biomarkers associated with various pathologies.

The scientific importance of SCGB1D2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their application across multiple research domains, including cancer biology, respiratory diseases, and immunology. In clinical settings, they serve as invaluable models for drug discovery and testing, significantly contributing to the development of effective treatment protocols and personalized medicine approaches.

Compared to traditional cell lines or alternative genetic models, SCGB1D2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer several distinct advantages. They provide a highly controlled environment for studying gene function, reduce variability in experimental results, and allow for the reproducible examination of the consequences of gene knockout. These features position them as superior tools for both academic and industrial research applications.

For researchers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical companies, investing in SCGB1D2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines means obtaining reliable, high-quality data that can accelerate the pace of innovation in their respective fields.
