JUP Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: JUP

Official Full Name: junction plakoglobinprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a major cytoplasmic protein which is the only known constituent common to submembranous plaques of both desmosomes and intermediate junctions. This protein forms distinct complexes with cadherins and desmosomal cadherins and is a member of the catenin family since it contains a distinct repeating amino acid motif called the armadillo repeat. Mutation in this gene has been associated with Naxos disease. Alternative splicing occurs in this gene; however, not all transcripts have been fully described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

JUP Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cell lines designed to specifically delete or "knock out" the Junction Plakoglobin (JUP) gene, a crucial player in cell adhesion and signal transduction pathways. These cell lines enable researchers to systematically study the physiological and pathological roles of JUP in various cellular contexts by providing a controlled environment to observe the absence of this gene's product.

The key function of JUP Gene Knockout Cell Lines is to facilitate investigations into the cellular mechanisms influenced by JUP, including its involvement in cell junction integrity, tissue development, and disease processes such as cancer and cardiac disorders. By utilizing CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, the knockout process ensures high specificity and efficiency, leading to reliable results in experiments aimed at elucidating the role of JUP in cellular communication and adhesion.

In scientific research and clinical applications, these knockout cell lines are invaluable tools for understanding disease mechanisms and developing therapeutic strategies. They can be employed in high-throughput screening for drug discovery, functional assays that evaluate cell behavior, and studies of disease models that require a realistic representation of human pathologies.

Compared to alternative genetic manipulation techniques, JUP Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer precision and reproducibility, reducing variability often seen in transient transfection methods or simpler knockdown techniques. Furthermore, these knockout models can be easily incorporated into various laboratory workflows, allowing for the seamless integration of functional analyses and validation studies.

For researchers and clinicians seeking to elucidate the functional dynamics of cell signaling, adhesion, and related mechanisms, these knockout cell lines represent a crucial tool that can accelerate the discovery of novel interventions and enhance our understanding of complex biological systems. Our company prides itself on providing high-quality, rigorously validated biological products tailored to meet the needs of the research community, backed by our team's extensive expertise in genetic engineering and cell biology.
