HLA-DRB1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: HLA-DRB1

Official Full Name: major histocompatibility complex, class II, DR beta 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: HLA-DRB1 belongs to the HLA class II beta chain paralogs. The class II molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha (DRA) and a beta chain (DRB), both anchored in the membrane. It plays a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins. Class II molecules are expressed in antigen presenting cells. The beta chain is approximately 26-28 kDa. It is encoded by 6 exons. Exon one encodes the leader peptide; exons 2 and 3 encode the two extracellular domains; exon 4 encodes the transmembrane domain; and exon 5 encodes the cytoplasmic tail. Within the DR molecule the beta chain contains all the polymorphisms specifying the peptide binding specificities. Hundreds of DRB1 alleles have been described and some alleles have increased frequencies associated with certain diseases or conditions. For example, DRB1*1302 has been related to acute and chronic hepatitis B virus persistence. There are multiple pseudogenes of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2020]

Background

HLA-DRB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a sophisticated tool in molecular biology, specifically tailored for the study of immune response and autoimmune diseases. These genetically modified cell lines have been engineered to remove the HLA-DRB1 gene, which encodes a critical component of the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules. By knocking out this gene, researchers can systematically investigate its role in antigen presentation and T-cell activation, fundamental processes in both normal immune function and pathogen defense.

The functionality of HLA-DRB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to provide a controlled environment for studying the effects of the absence of HLA-DRB1 on immune interactions. This allows for the examination of autoimmune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, where HLA-DRB1 is implicated in disease susceptibility. Additionally, these cell lines can aid in the development of novel immunotherapies and vaccines by elucidating the mechanisms by which T-cells recognize and respond to antigens.

The scientific importance of HLA-DRB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends into both research and clinical contexts. They serve as invaluable resources for academic and industrial scientists exploring T-cell immunology, the nuances of autoimmunity, and the design of targeted therapies. By utilizing these cell lines, researchers can accelerate their findings and derive insights relevant to patient care.

One distinct advantage of using our HLA-DRB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines over alternatives, such as traditional models that retain wild-type genes, is the clarity and specificity of the results they yield. Our cell lines eliminate confounding variables, providing a more accurate representation of the HLA-DRB1 gene's role in immunopathology. Furthermore, our product is validated for consistency and reproducibility, ensuring that researchers obtain reliably interpretable data.

For researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the immune system, the HLA-DRB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer unparalleled value and versatility. By enhancing experimental design and facilitating breakthrough discoveries, this product significantly contributes to advancing the fields of immunology and therapeutic development.
