Gene Official Full Name | epidermal growth factor receptorprovided by MGI |
Also known as | Wa5; wa2; Erbb; Errp; wa-2; Errb1; 9030024J15Rik |
Gene Description | Enables epidermal growth factor binding activity and epidermal growth factor receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including ERBB2-EGFR signaling pathway; negative regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; and positive regulation of fibroblast proliferation. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including eyelid development in camera-type eye; hair follicle development; and protein autophosphorylation. Located in several cellular components, including basolateral plasma membrane; endocytic vesicle; and perinuclear region of cytoplasm. Is active in plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; integumental system; limb; and sensory organ. Used to study Coronavirus infectious disease and aortic valve disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including colorectal cancer; lung cancer (multiple); pancreatic cancer; prostate cancer; and pulmonary tuberculosis. Orthologous to human EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2025] |
Expression | Broad expression in liver adult (RPKM 26.7), liver E18 (RPKM 8.7) and 15 other tissues See more |

A – Exon KO
gRNAs are designed in the introns flanking the exon, targeting non-multiple-of-3 base deletions in the exon, resulting in frameshift mutations.
B - Frameshift KO
gRNAs are designed within the exon, creating non-multiple-of-3 base deletions to induce frameshift mutations.
C - Complete KO
The entire gene coding sequence is deleted, achieving large-scale knockout effects.
