HOXD8 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: HOXD8

Official Full Name: homeobox D8provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene belongs to the homeobox family of genes. The homeobox genes encode a highly conserved family of transcription factors that play an important role in morphogenesis in all multicellular organisms. Mammals possess four similar homeobox gene clusters, HOXA, HOXB, HOXC and HOXD, located on different chromosomes, consisting of 9 to 11 genes arranged in tandem. This gene is one of several homeobox HOXD genes located in a cluster on chromosome 2. Deletions that remove the entire HOXD gene cluster or the 5' end of this cluster have been associated with severe limb and genital abnormalities. In addition to effects during embryogenesis, this particular gene may also play a role in adult urogenital tract function. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Background

HOXD8 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cellular models in which the HOXD8 gene has been completely disrupted. This versatile tool is critical for investigating the function of the HOXD8 gene, which plays a significant role in vertebrate development and gene regulation during embryogenesis. The knockout of this specific gene allows researchers to dissect the molecular pathways regulated by HOXD8 and to assess its involvement in various biological processes.

The mechanistic function of HOXD8 involves its participation in the control of chromatin structure and gene expression, specifically in limb morphogenesis and axial pattern formation. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, researchers can explore the phenotypic consequences of HOXD8 loss, contributing significantly to understanding developmental anomalies and potential therapeutic targets for related disorders.

From a scientific standpoint, HOXD8 Gene Knockout Cell Lines hold value in both research and clinical applications. They can be utilized to study gene function in cellular differentiation, assess the impact of HOXD8 on tumorigenesis, and identify novel signaling pathways involved in cell growth. Through these models, scientists can also conduct drug screening and develop gene therapy strategies aimed at correcting HOXD8-related defects.

Compared to traditional gene-editing techniques, our HOXD8 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer a ready-to-use, standardized model that significantly reduces the time and resources needed for research. Unlike alternatives that may require more extensive manipulation and validation, our product is characterized by its high reliability and reproducibility, granting researchers confidence in their experimental outcomes.

For researchers and clinicians focused on developmental biology, oncology, or genetic disorders, the utility of HOXD8 Gene Knockout Cell Lines becomes apparent. These models facilitate the understanding of gene function and disease mechanisms while paving the way for innovative treatments.
