Gene: COX7A1
Official Full Name: cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7A1provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: Cytochrome c oxidase (COX), the terminal component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, catalyzes the electron transfer from reduced cytochrome c to oxygen. This component is a heteromeric complex consisting of 3 catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. The mitochondrially-encoded subunits function in electron transfer, and the nuclear-encoded subunits may function in the regulation and assembly of the complex. This nuclear gene encodes polypeptide 1 (muscle isoform) of subunit VIIa and the polypeptide 1 is present only in muscle tissues. Other polypeptides of subunit VIIa are present in both muscle and nonmuscle tissues, and are encoded by different genes. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

COX7A1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are engineered cell lines that possess a precise deletion of the COX7A1 gene, which plays a critical role in mitochondrial function and energy metabolism. By generating these knockout models, researchers can study the implications of COX7A1 loss in cellular bioenergetics, apoptosis, and signaling pathways involving mitochondrial dysfunction. The mechanism behind the knockout involves advanced gene editing techniques, such as CRISPR/Cas9, ensuring specificity and efficacy in disrupting the target gene.
The scientific importance of COX7A1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their potential applications in both fundamental and translational research. These models allow investigators to dissect the molecular underpinnings of various diseases, particularly those related to mitochondrial disorders, neurodegeneration, and metabolic syndromes. By understanding how the absence of COX7A1 affects cellular physiology, researchers can identify new therapeutic targets and biomarkers for clinical applications.
What sets our COX7A1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from competitors is their rigorous validation and characterization, ensuring unparalleled reliability for experimentation. Furthermore, our cell lines are designed to provide consistent performance across numerous assays, making them ideal for drug discovery and cellular response studies. This high-quality product is particularly valuable for researchers and clinicians focused on advancing the understanding of mitochondrial biology and its link to human health.
