CCL26 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: CCL26

Official Full Name: C-C motif chemokine ligand 26provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene is one of two Cys-Cys (CC) cytokine genes clustered on the q arm of chromosome 7. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines are proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The cytokine encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for normal peripheral blood eosinophils and basophils. This protein also has antimicrobial activity, displaying an antibacterial effect on S. pneumoniae, S. aureus, Non-typeable H. influenzae, and P. aeruginosa. The product of this gene is one of three related chemokines that specifically activate chemokine receptor CCR3. This chemokine may contribute to the eosinophil accumulation in atopic diseases. Background

CCL26 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cellular models specifically designed to study the effects of the CCL26 gene, known for its role in the immune response and chemotaxis of eosinophils. These cell lines utilize CRISPR-Cas9 technology to create precise deletions in the CCL26 gene, allowing researchers to elucidate its biological functions and contributions to various pathophysiological conditions, including asthma and allergies.

The primary mechanism of action involves a loss-of-function approach that enables the researchers to investigate how the absence of CCL26 affects cellular signaling pathways, cytokine production, and cell migration. By utilizing these knockout models, scientists can gain insights into the role of CCL26 in mediating inflammation and immune cell trafficking, offering a vital resource for understanding diseases characterized by dysregulated immune responses.

The scientific importance of CCL26 Gene Knockout Cell Lines cannot be understated. In research contexts, these cell lines facilitate the investigation of asthma-related pathways and therapeutic targets, thereby advancing the development of novel treatments. In clinical settings, they assist in preclinical studies to validate the efficacy and safety of drug candidates targeting CCL26-mediated processes.

Compared to other gene knockout models, CCL26 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer a specific and efficient platform tailored to eosinophilic disorders. Their high reproducibility and ease of use in various assays stand out as significant advantages over traditional models that may not fully represent the dynamics of the immune system.

For researchers and clinicians focused on immunology and respiratory diseases, these cell lines deliver invaluable insights, making them an essential tool in the quest for targeted therapies.
