TMC6 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: TMC6

Official Full Name: transmembrane channel like 6provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is an autosomal recessive dermatosis characterized by abnormal susceptibility to human papillomaviruses (HPVs) and a high rate of progression to squamous cell carcinoma on sun-exposed skin. EV is caused by mutations in either of two adjacent genes located on chromosome 17q25.3. Both of these genes encode integral membrane proteins that localize to the endoplasmic reticulum and are predicted to form transmembrane channels. This gene encodes a transmembrane channel-like protein with 10 transmembrane domains and 2 leucine zipper motifs. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

TMC6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cell lines specifically engineered to lack the expression of the TMC6 gene, which is implicated in various cellular processes, including ion transport and viral pathogenesis. These cell lines serve as crucial tools for researchers investigating the functional roles of TMC6 in cellular physiology, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions.

The primary function of TMC6 is associated with its role in the regulation of endosomal and lysosomal trafficking. By knocking out this gene, researchers can elucidate the contribution of TMC6 to viral replication, particularly in the context of infections such as those caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The absence of TMC6 allows for the study of downstream effects on cellular signaling pathways, immune response, and cell viability, which are pivotal in understanding oncogenesis and antiviral responses.

The scientific significance of TMC6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to both fundamental research and clinical applications. They provide a unique platform for dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying viral infections and for exploring novel therapeutic targets. Additionally, these cell lines can facilitate drug screening efforts aimed at developing antiviral agents or cancer therapeutics.

One of the key advantages of our TMC6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is their high degree of specificity and reliability compared to alternative models such as transient knockdown systems. The stable knockout allows for consistent results across experiments, reducing variability and enhancing reproducibility, which are critical for validating research findings. Furthermore, our cell lines are produced with high-quality standards and undergo rigorous characterization, ensuring that they meet the needs of discerning researchers and clinicians.

By investing in TMC6 Gene Knockout Cell Lines, users gain a powerful tool with the potential to unlock new insights into cellular mechanisms and facilitate significant breakthroughs in research.
