Gene: RORC
Official Full Name: RAR related orphan receptor Cprovided by HGNC
Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA-binding transcription factor and is a member of the NR1 subfamily of nuclear hormone receptors. The specific functions of this protein are not known; however, studies of a similar gene in mice have shown that this gene may be essential for lymphoid organogenesis and may play an important regulatory role in thymopoiesis. In addition, studies in mice suggest that the protein encoded by this gene may inhibit the expression of Fas ligand and IL2. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

RORC Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered models designed to explore the function and impact of the RORC gene, a critical regulator in immune response and development. Specifically, the RORC (Retinoic Acid Receptor-Related Orphan Receptor C) gene plays a pivotal role in the differentiation and function of T-helper 17 (Th17) cells, which are essential for combating chronic infections and mediating autoimmune diseases. The knockout of this gene in cell lines allows researchers to study the phenotypic and functional consequences of RORC absence, providing insights into its role in both normal physiology and disease pathology.
These cell lines operate through the precise deletion of the RORC allele, ensuring that any observed biological changes can be directly attributed to the absence of this specific transcription factor. This model can facilitate a variety of applications ranging from basic research on T cell differentiation to drug discovery efforts targeting autoimmune conditions. By loading the knockout cells with specific cytokines or signaling molecules, researchers can observe alterations in cellular behavior that elucidate the intricacies of immune responses.
Importantly, RORC Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer significant advantages over traditional models, such as genetically heterogeneous populations or in vivo systems, which can introduce variability and complicate data interpretation. Our cell lines provide a consistent, reproducible platform that helps streamline experimental workflows and improves the reliability of research outcomes. Additionally, these models are compatible with high-throughput screening methodologies, making them particularly useful in the pharmaceutical industry for identifying novel therapeutic targets.
For researchers and clinicians, the RORC Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent an invaluable tool in unraveling the complexities of immune mechanisms and developing targeted interventions for related disorders. With a dedicated commitment to innovation in biological products, our company leverages state-of-the-art genetic engineering techniques and deep expertise in immunology to deliver high-quality research tools that empower scientific discovery.
