PICK1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: PICK1

Official Full Name: protein interacting with PRKCA 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene contains a PDZ domain, through which it interacts with protein kinase C, alpha (PRKCA). This protein may function as an adaptor that binds to and organizes the subcellular localization of a variety of membrane proteins. It has been shown to interact with multiple glutamate receptor subtypes, monoamine plasma membrane transporters, as well as non-voltage gated sodium channels, and may target PRKCA to these membrane proteins and thus regulate their distribution and function. This protein has also been found to act as an anchoring protein that specifically targets PRKCA to mitochondria in a ligand-specific manner. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

PICK1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cell lines specifically designed to lack the function of the PICK1 gene, which encodes for the protein known as protein interacting with C-kinase 1. This innovative tool aids researchers in the study of PICK1's physiological roles and its implications in various biological processes, including synaptic transmission and receptor trafficking. By generating these knockout cell lines via CRISPR/Cas9 technology, we provide a powerful platform for elucidating the functional pathways that are influenced by this protein, effectively allowing scientists to dissect its involvement in both health and disease.

The primary function of the PICK1 gene product is its role in anchoring and regulating the trafficking of membrane proteins. By knocking out this gene, researchers can investigate mitochondrial dynamics, synaptic plasticity, and neuroprotector pathways that might be compromised in certain neuropathologies. These cell lines enable high-throughput screening for potential therapeutic targets, offering insights into treatment strategies for conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

The scientific importance of PICK1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to their applications in both basic and translational research. They provide a controlled environment for understanding the impact of PICK1 deficiency on neurotransmitter signaling and synaptic function, which are crucial for developing neuromodulatory therapies. Compared to traditional methods like siRNA knockdown, these stable knockout models offer consistency, reducing variability in experimental outcomes.

What distinguishes our PICK1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines from competitors is not only their high specificity and reliability, but also the comprehensive support we provide, including detailed protocols and troubleshooting assistance. Additionally, these models are developed under stringent quality control measures, ensuring that they meet the rigorous standards demanded by cutting-edge research.

For researchers or clinicians seeking to explore the intricate roles of PICK1 in cellular processes or develop novel interventions, our PICK1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a valuable and innovative tool.
