Overview

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is located on the outer membrane layer and is exposed on the cell surface in non-encapsulated strains. They contribute to the integrity of the outer membrane and protect cells from the effects of bile salts and lipophilic antibiotics. The product is a phenol extract from Escherichia coli serotype O26:B6. The source strain is ATCC 12795.
