KIR2DL2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: KIR2DL2

Official Full Name: killer cell immunoglobulin like receptor, two Ig domains and long cytoplasmic tail 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed by natural killer cells and subsets of T cells. The KIR genes are polymorphic and highly homologous and they are found in a cluster on chromosome 19q13.4 within the 1 Mb leukocyte receptor complex (LRC). The gene content of the KIR gene cluster varies among haplotypes, although several "framework" genes are found in all haplotypes (KIR3DL3, KIR3DP1, KIR3DL4, KIR3DL2). The KIR proteins are classified by the number of extracellular immunoglobulin domains (2D or 3D) and by whether they have a long (L) or short (S) cytoplasmic domain. KIR proteins with the long cytoplasmic domain transduce inhibitory signals upon ligand binding via an immune tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM), while KIR proteins with the short cytoplasmic domain lack the ITIM motif and instead associate with the TYRO protein tyrosine kinase binding protein to transduce activating signals. The ligands for several KIR proteins are subsets of HLA class I molecules; thus, KIR proteins are thought to play an important role in regulation of the immune response. Background

KIR2DL2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are engineered mammalian cell lines that have been specifically designed to lack the expression of the KIR2DL2 (Killer-cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptor 2DL2) gene. These cell lines serve as invaluable tools for studying the role of KIR2DL2 in immune responses, particularly in the context of natural killer (NK) cell biology. The absence of this inhibitory receptor allows researchers to gain insights into the signaling pathways governing NK cell activation, tolerance, and potential tumor immunology applications.

The key function of these knockout cell lines lies in their ability to elucidate the impact of KIR2DL2 on cellular interactions within the immune landscape. By studying these cells, researchers can explore how the absence of this receptor alters NK cell cytotoxicity and cytokine production. Furthermore, these cell lines can be utilized in functional assays to test the activity of therapeutic agents that modulate NK cell responses in various disease states, including cancer.

From a scientific perspective, KIR2DL2 is significant due to its role in recognizing MHC class I molecules on target cells, directly influencing NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Understanding this interaction is critical for advancing immunotherapies and enhancing the efficacy of cancer treatments. In clinical settings, these knockout cell lines can facilitate the development of personalized medicine approaches by helping identify patient-specific immune responses.

What truly sets KIR2DL2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternative tools is their high specificity and reliability. Traditional methods of studying gene function often involve complex and time-consuming processes, such as CRISPR-Cas9 or RNA interference approaches. In contrast, these knockout lines are readily available for immediate experimental use, significantly accelerating the pace of research and reducing variability.

The value of KIR2DL2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is underscored by their potential to unlock new avenues of investigation in immunology, providing researchers and clinicians alike with robust resources to explore therapeutic possibilities and understand immune regulation more comprehensively. Our company specializes in delivering high-quality biological products, backed by robust scientific expertise, to empower researchers and healthcare professionals in their quest for innovative solutions in immunotherapy and beyond.
