Overview

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is located in the outer membrane layer and is exposed on the cell surface of non-encapsulated strains. They help maintain the integrity of the outer membrane and protect cells from the destructive effects of bile salts and lipophilic antibiotics. The product was obtained by phenol extraction from Escherichia coli serotype O128:B12. The source strain is CDC 2440-69.
