NECTIN1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: NECTIN1

Official Full Name: nectin cell adhesion molecule 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes an adhesion protein that plays a role in the organization of adherens junctions and tight junctions in epithelial and endothelial cells. The protein is a calcium(2+)-independent cell-cell adhesion molecule that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and has 3 extracellular immunoglobulin-like loops, a single transmembrane domain (in some isoforms), and a cytoplasmic region. This protein acts as a receptor for glycoprotein D (gD) of herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2), and pseudorabies virus (PRV) and mediates viral entry into epithelial and neuronal cells. Mutations in this gene cause cleft lip and palate/ectodermal dysplasia 1 syndrome (CLPED1) as well as non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding proteins with distinct C-termini. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Background

NECTIN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular tools engineered to lack the NECTIN1 gene, which encodes a cell adhesion protein involved in various biological processes, including cellular signaling and immune responses. By utilizing CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, these knockout cell lines provide a controlled environment for researchers to study the specific roles and functions of NECTIN1 in pathology and physiology.

The primary mechanism of action of NECTIN1 is its involvement in the formation of adherens junctions and tight junctions, which are critical for maintaining tissue architecture and regulating paracellular transport. In studying our NECTIN1 knockout lines, researchers can investigate the impact of NECTIN1 deficiency on cellular interactions, immune modulation, and the progression of diseases, particularly in cancer research where cell adhesion plays a pivotal role in tumor metastasis.

The scientific importance of NECTIN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to various research and clinical applications. They can be employed in drug discovery, where understanding cell adhesion mechanisms can unveil new therapeutic strategies or targets. Moreover, these models are invaluable in immunological studies, particularly in assessing how NECTIN1 influences immune cell behavior and responses.

Compared to alternative models, such as transient knockdown systems, NECTIN1 knockout cell lines offer stable and reproducible results, contributing to the reliability of experimental outcomes. Additionally, they allow for long-term studies that are essential for understanding chronic effects in disease models. The precision and robustness of these cell lines make them a preferred choice for high-throughput screening and detailed mechanistic studies.

Researchers and clinicians will find our NECTIN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines indispensable for deciphering the complexities of cellular behavior in a range of diseases. With a commitment to providing high-quality biological products, our company stands at the forefront of genetic research, ensuring that scientists have access to the tools they need to advance their studies and contribute to significant medical breakthroughs.
