HHIP Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: HHIP

Official Full Name: hedgehog interacting proteinprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the hedgehog-interacting protein (HHIP) family. The hedgehog (HH) proteins are evolutionarily conserved protein, which are important morphogens for a wide range of developmental processes, including anteroposterior patterns of limbs and regulation of left-right asymmetry in embryonic development. Multiple cell-surface receptors are responsible for transducing and/or regulating HH signals. The HHIP encoded by this gene is a highly conserved, vertebrate-specific inhibitor of HH signaling. It interacts with all three HH family members, SHH, IHH and DHH. Two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) near this gene are significantly associated with risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A single nucleotide polymorphism in this gene is also strongly associated with human height.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Background

HHIP Gene Knockout Cell Lines are advanced biological tools specifically designed to study the function of the Hedgehog Interacting Protein (HHIP) gene in various applications. These cell lines have been meticulously engineered utilizing CRISPR/Cas9 technology to effectively abolish HHIP expression, allowing researchers to investigate the downstream effects of HHIP loss on cellular processes and signaling pathways. By creating specific knockouts, scientists can dissect the role of HHIP in critical biological functions, including cell growth, differentiation, and response to external stimuli.

The core mechanism of these cell lines involves a carefully constructed targeting sequence that introduces double-strand breaks in the HHIP gene, culminating in non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) repair—the result is a complete gene knockout. This precise manipulation of genomic DNA enables the study of HHIP's role in development, disease pathogenesis, as well as drug response, making these cell lines invaluable for both basic and translational research.

Scientifically, HHIP is implicated in various conditions, including cancer and developmental disorders, reinforcing the necessity for robust experimental models. The applications of HHIP Gene Knockout Cell Lines span basic research investigations seeking to unravel gene function, as well as pharmaceutical research aimed at targeting these pathways for therapeutic interventions.

What sets HHIP Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from other gene editing products is their optimally validated performance and reproducibility, catering to the ever-evolving needs of modern scientific inquiry. In addition, these cell lines come with detailed documentation and technical support, ensuring that researchers can seamlessly integrate them into their experimental designs.

For researchers and clinicians aiming to deepen their understanding of gene regulation and the molecular mechanisms of diseases, HHIP Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent an essential resource that addresses critical gaps in the current biological landscape.
