GGA3 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: GGA3

Official Full Name: golgi associated, gamma adaptin ear containing, ARF binding protein 3provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the Golgi-localized, gamma adaptin ear-containing, ARF-binding (GGA) family. This family includes ubiquitous coat proteins that regulate the trafficking of proteins between the trans-Golgi network and the lysosome. These proteins share an amino-terminal VHS domain which mediates sorting of the mannose 6-phosphate receptors at the trans-Golgi network. They also contain a carboxy-terminal region with homology to the ear domain of gamma-adaptins. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in this gene. Background

GGA3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cells that possess a complete deletion of the GGA3 gene, which encodes a crucial component involved in protein trafficking and membrane organization within the cell. This product serves as an essential tool for researchers studying cellular mechanisms related to intracellular transport, signaling pathways, and disease models, particularly in cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

The primary function of GGA3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to disrupt the normal functioning of the GGA3 protein, elucidating the role of this gene in various biological processes. By manipulating the expression of GGA3, researchers can investigate its involvement in the endocytic pathway and explore how its absence affects the localization and degradation of membrane proteins, thus providing insights into the pathophysiology of related diseases. The knockout model enables experiments to analyze changes in cellular behavior, signaling pathways, and interactions with other cellular components that are pivotal for targeted therapeutic strategies.

The scientific importance of GGA3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to both basic and applied research. They are invaluable in drug discovery efforts, allowing scientists to identify potential therapeutic targets and validate the efficacy of novel compounds. Furthermore, their utility in functional genomics makes them vital for high-throughput screening applications to discover gene functions and regulatory networks.

What sets GGA3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternative gene editing options is their specificity and reliability. These cell lines provide a stable genetic background, ensuring consistent results across experiments. Additionally, their ready-to-use nature eliminates the extensive time and resources typically required for creating knockout models from scratch, thereby accelerating research timelines.
