NUB1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: NUB1

Official Full Name: negative regulator of ubiquitin like proteins 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a protein that functions as a negative regulator of NEDD8, a ubiquitin-like protein that conjugates with cullin family members in order to regulate vital biological events. The protein encoded by this gene regulates the NEDD8 conjugation system post-transcriptionally by recruiting NEDD8 and its conjugates to the proteasome for degradation. This protein interacts with the product of the AIPL1 gene, which is associated with Leber congenital amaurosis, an inherited retinopathy, and mutations in that gene can abolish interaction with this protein, which may contribute to the pathogenesis. This protein is also known to accumulate in Lewy bodies in Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, and in glial cytoplasmic inclusions in multiple system atrophy, with this abnormal accumulation being specific to alpha-synucleinopathy lesions. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Background

NUB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specialized cellular models engineered to lack the NUB1 gene, which encodes a protein involved in cellular stress responses and apoptosis regulation. These knockout cell lines serve as crucial tools for understanding the biological roles of NUB1 in various cellular processes, including the response to oxidative stress and its implications in pathophysiological conditions such as neurodegeneration and cancer.

The primary function of NUB1 is to regulate protein degradation by interacting with the ubiquitin-proteasome system. By inhibiting the degradation of specific substrates, NUB1 plays a significant role in modulating cell survival and function under stress conditions. The NUB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines allow researchers to elucidate the consequences of NUB1 absence, providing insights into cell signaling pathways that could be targeted for therapeutic intervention.

In research settings, these knockout cell lines offer profound implications for studies focused on cellular responses to stressors, drug efficacy, and biomarker discovery. Clinically, elucidating the role of NUB1 may unveil new strategies for treating diseases where its dysregulation plays a key part. Compared to traditional cell lines that express NUB1, these knockout models provide a more precise platform to assess the gene's specific functions, thereby enhancing experimental rigor and the reliability of data.

The NUB1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are invaluable to researchers and clinicians aiming to deepen their understanding of cell biology and disease mechanisms. With long-standing expertise in the development of targeted biological products, our company is dedicated to empowering scientific advancements through high-quality, innovative cellular models that facilitate breakthrough discoveries in biomedical research. With these lines at your disposal, you can unlock new avenues in understanding gene function, paving the way for future therapeutic innovations.
