LYRM1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: LYRM1

Official Full Name: LYR motif containing 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the mitochondrial leucine/tyrosine/arginine motif family of proteins. Proteins of this family are short polypeptides that contain a leucine/tyrosine/arginine motif near the N-terminus. This gene is widely expressed with high levels in omental adipose tissue of obese individuals. In adipose tissue, the protein is localized to the nucleus where it promotes preadipocyte proliferation and lowers the rate of apoptosis to regulate adipose tissue homeostasis. Overexpression of this gene in adipocytes causes abnormal mitochondrial morphology and mitochondrial dysfunction. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Background

LYRM1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cell lines designed to facilitate the study of the LYRM1 gene's functions and the biological pathways it influences. By utilizing a state-of-the-art CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technique, these cell lines exhibit a complete knockout of the LYRM1 gene, allowing researchers to investigate the role of LYRM1 in various cellular processes, including mitochondrial function, protein synthesis, and RNA metabolism.

The primary function of the LYRM1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is to provide a model for elucidating the gene's involvement in fundamental biological mechanisms and disease states. LYRM1 has been implicated in various cellular stress responses and metabolic disorders; thus, the knockout model aids in the dissection of these pathways. Researchers can analyze phenotypic changes, assess cellular resilience, and evaluate the impact of LYRM1 deficiency on cell viability and proliferation under stress conditions, contributing valuable insights into mitochondrial and metabolic diseases.

In clinical and research settings, these cell lines serve as a powerful tool for drug discovery and development, allowing scientists to screen potential therapeutics that target metabolic dysfunctions associated with LYRM1. Moreover, understanding the gene's role in cellular stress responses can provide insights for developing novel strategies to enhance cell survival during pathological conditions.

What sets LYRM1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternative models is the precision and reliability of the CRISPR/Cas9 editing technology. Each cell line is validated for efficient knockout, ensuring reproducibility crucial for experimental outcomes. Additionally, the versatility of these cell lines allows for a wide range of applications, from basic research to translational studies.
