ACVR1B Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ACVR1B

Official Full Name: activin A receptor type 1Bprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes an activin A type IB receptor. Activins are dimeric growth and differentiation factors which belong to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. Activins signal through a heteromeric complex of receptor serine kinases which include at least two type I and two type II receptors. This protein is a type I receptor which is essential for signaling. Mutations in this gene are associated with pituitary tumors. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Background

ACVR1B Gene Knockout Cell Lines are a revolutionary tool designed for molecular and cellular biology research, specifically focusing on the functions of the Activin Receptor Type 1B (ACVR1B) gene. These engineered cell lines have been created through advanced gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9 to disrupt the ACVR1B gene’s expression, allowing researchers to study the functional consequences of its absence in a controlled environment.

The primary function of ACVR1B involves the regulation of various signaling pathways, particularly those related to cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. By utilizing ACVR1B Gene Knockout Cell Lines, researchers can systematically evaluate how the disruption of this gene impacts cellular responses to Activins and other extracellular cues. Such studies are pivotal in understanding various physiological processes, including embryonic development and tissue homeostasis, as well as pathological conditions such as fibrosis and cancer.

The scientific importance of these cell lines is underscored by their application in both research and clinical settings. They enable scientists to explore the biological mechanisms underpinning diseases linked to ACVR1B dysregulation, ultimately facilitating the development of targeted therapeutic strategies. Furthermore, these knockout lines can serve as platforms for drug screening, allowing for the identification of potential treatments that can alleviate the dysregulation caused by ACVR1B-related pathologies.

Compared to traditional cell lines that retain functional ACVR1B, our knockout cell lines provide a unique advantage by offering a clear model for studying the gene's role without background interference. This specificity leads to more accurate and reproducible experimental outcomes, making them indispensable for researchers aiming to elucidate the complexities of signaling pathways affected by ACVR1B.

For researchers and clinicians alike, ACVR1B Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent an invaluable resource that enhances the potential to innovate and translate findings from the bench to bedside. They are engineered with precision, ensuring high-quality performance that meets rigorous scientific standards.
