Gene: TNFRSF1A
Official Full Name: TNF receptor superfamily member 1Aprovided by HGNC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the TNF receptor superfamily of proteins. The encoded receptor is found in membrane-bound and soluble forms that interact with membrane-bound and soluble forms, respectively, of its ligand, tumor necrosis factor alpha. Binding of membrane-bound tumor necrosis factor alpha to the membrane-bound receptor induces receptor trimerization and activation, which plays a role in cell survival, apoptosis, and inflammation. Proteolytic processing of the encoded receptor results in release of the soluble form of the receptor, which can interact with free tumor necrosis factor alpha to inhibit inflammation. Mutations in this gene underlie tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated periodic syndrome (TRAPS), characterized by fever, abdominal pain and other features. Mutations in this gene may also be associated with multiple sclerosis in human patients. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]

TNFRSF1A Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specifically engineered cellular models wherein the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1A (TNFRSF1A) gene has been disrupted. This targeted gene knockout facilitates the investigation of the functional consequences of TNFRSF1A loss, which plays a pivotal role in various cellular processes, including apoptosis, immune responses, and inflammation regulation. By employing techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9 or TALEN, these cell lines provide researchers with a robust tool to elucidate the molecular pathways influenced by TNFRSF1A under different physiological and pathological conditions.
The primary function of TNFRSF1A is to mediate cellular responses to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a critical cytokine involved in systemic inflammation and a key player in autoimmune diseases. By knocking out TNFRSF1A, researchers can explore how the absence of this receptor alters cellular signaling cascades, which may help illuminate its role in diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and certain cancers. This has significant applications in both basic research and clinical settings, enabling the identification of potential therapeutic targets and the development of novel treatment strategies against TNF-α-related pathologies.
What sets our TNFRSF1A Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from competitors is our commitment to rigorous quality control and validation processes.
