Gene: TMX2
Official Full Name: thioredoxin related transmembrane protein 2provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins that catalyze protein folding and thiol-disulfide interchange reactions. The encoded protein has an N-terminal ER-signal sequence, a catalytically active thioredoxin domain, one transmembrane domain and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. This protein is enriched on the mitochondria-associated-membrane of the ER via palmitoylation of two of its cytosolically exposed cysteines. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]

TMX2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a cutting-edge tool for molecular and cellular biology, specifically engineered for the functional study of the Transmembrane and Tetratricopeptide Repeat Containing 2 (TMX2) gene. These knockout cell lines are created using advanced CRISPR-Cas9 technology, effectively disabling the TMX2 gene and allowing researchers to investigate its role in various physiological and pathological processes.
The primary function of these cell lines is to provide a platform for the in-depth examination of TMX2's involvement in cellular mechanisms such as oxidative stress response, protein folding, and stress granule formation. By studying the phenotypic changes and molecular pathways altered in TMX2-deficient cells, researchers can elucidate the gene’s contributions to diseases like cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disorders.
In clinical and research settings, TMX2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are invaluable for drug discovery, pathway analysis, and translational research. Their ability to offer insights into gene function can significantly enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms and contribute to the development of targeted therapies. Compared to conventional gene silencing technologies, such as RNA interference, the use of knockout models provides a more stable, heritable mutation, leading to reproducible results that can be readily scaled across multiple experiments.
Furthermore, these cell lines are derived from widely used cell types, ensuring compatibility with various existing experimental frameworks, which streamlines research efforts. By investing in TMX2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines, researchers and clinicians can accelerate their discoveries, leading to meaningful advancements in the field of genetics and disease treatment.
