STK10 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: STK10

Official Full Name: serine/threonine kinase 10provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the Ste20 family of serine/threonine protein kinases, and is similar to several known polo-like kinase kinases. The protein can associate with and phosphorylate polo-like kinase 1, and overexpression of a kinase-dead version of the protein interferes with normal cell cycle progression. The kinase can also negatively regulate interleukin 2 expression in T-cells via the mitogen activated protein kinase kinase 1 pathway. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

STK10 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are specifically engineered cellular models that silence the expression of the STK10 (Serine/Threonine Kinase 10) gene, allowing researchers to examine the consequences of STK10 loss on cellular functions and biological pathways. STK10 plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including the regulation of cell cycle, apoptosis, and immune responses, making its knockout an invaluable tool for dissecting underlying mechanisms associated with these functions.

The primary mechanism through which these cell lines operate is via the deletion of the STK10 gene using CRISPR-Cas9 technology. This targeted gene-editing approach ensures precise modification, minimizing off-target effects and allowing for clear interpretations of experimental outcomes. Utilizing these knockout cell lines enables scientists to explore the role of STK10 in contexts such as cancer biology, cardiovascular diseases, and immune system disorders, contributing to a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.

In the realm of scientific research and clinical applications, STK10 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are invaluable for identifying the gene's functional roles and signaling pathways. Their ability to provide insights into cellular behavior in the absence of STK10 supports various applications, from fundamental research to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Compared to alternative models, such as traditional knockdown strategies or whole organism models, these knockout cell lines offer significant advantages, including the ability to create stable and reproducible conditions with minimal variability, thus enhancing the reliability of experimental data. Moreover, they facilitate high-throughput screening processes, making them attractive for large-scale studies.
