SORBS2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: SORBS2

Official Full Name: sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: Arg and c-Abl represent the mammalian members of the Abelson family of non-receptor protein-tyrosine kinases. They interact with the Arg/Abl binding proteins via the SH3 domains present in the carboxy end of the latter group of proteins. This gene encodes the sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2 protein. It has three C-terminal SH3 domains and an N-terminal sorbin homology (SoHo) domain that interacts with lipid raft proteins. The subcellular localization of this protein in epithelial and cardiac muscle cells suggests that it functions as an adapter protein to assemble signaling complexes in stress fibers, and that it is a potential link between Abl family kinases and the actin cytoskeleton. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

SORBS2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are a specialized cellular model system designed for research applications that focus on the SORBS2 gene, which encodes for a protein implicated in various biological processes, including insulin signaling and the regulation of cell adhesion. These knockout cell lines are expertly engineered using CRISPR-Cas9 technology to ensure complete disruption of the SORBS2 gene, providing researchers with a valuable tool for studying gene function and associated pathways in a controlled environment.

The primary mechanism of action for SORBS2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to facilitate investigations into the cellular responses and physiological changes that occur in the absence of SORBS2. This includes the analysis of alterations in signaling cascades, metabolic functions, and cellular architecture, thus providing insights into the gene's role in cellular homeostasis and pathological conditions. Beyond basic research, these cell lines hold particular relevance for potential therapeutic targets, where understanding SORBS2 dysfunction could lead to innovative approaches for treating metabolic disorders and other diseases.

One of the unique advantages of using SORBS2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is the precise deletion of the target gene, allowing for reliable and reproducible experimental results. Unlike alternative methods such as RNA interference, which can result in off-target effects, these knockout cell lines provide a definitive model by completely eliminating gene expression. This specificity enhances the integrity of experimental outcomes, making them a preferred choice for rigorous biological research.

Researchers and clinicians will find immense value in SORBS2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines as they facilitate a deeper understanding of gene function and the development of targeted therapies. The capacity to analyze the implications of SORBS2 knockout on various cellular processes can lead to key discoveries in the fields of endocrinology, immunology, and oncology.
