RAMP2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: RAMP2

Official Full Name: receptor activity modifying protein 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RAMP family of single-transmembrane-domain proteins, called receptor (calcitonin) activity modifying proteins (RAMPs). RAMPs are type I transmembrane proteins with an extracellular N terminus and a cytoplasmic C terminus. RAMPs are required to transport calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) to the plasma membrane. CRLR, a receptor with seven transmembrane domains, can function as either a calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor or an adrenomedullin receptor, depending on which members of the RAMP family are expressed. In the presence of this (RAMP2) protein, CRLR functions as an adrenomedullin receptor. The RAMP2 protein is involved in core glycosylation and transportation of adrenomedullin receptor to the cell surface. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

RAMP2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent an innovative tool for researchers investigating the role of the RAMP2 (Receptor Activity-Modifying Protein 2) in various biological processes. This product consists of mammalian cell lines in which the RAMP2 gene has been precisely knocked out using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, allowing for the study of its functional implications in signal transduction, particularly relating to G-protein coupled receptor pathways.

The key mechanism behind these knockout cell lines is the ability to eliminate RAMP2 expression, enabling detailed analysis of downstream effects on receptor signaling, cellular behavior, and pharmacological responses. By using these cells, researchers can elucidate the role of RAMP2 in physiological conditions and disease states, paving the way for advances in targeted therapeutics and understanding of complex health issues related to the cardiovascular, nervous, and endocrine systems.

The scientific importance of RAMP2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to fill critical gaps in knowledge pertaining to receptor modulation and intracellular signaling cascades. In both research and clinical contexts, these cell lines are invaluable for drug discovery, therapeutic innovation, and developmental biology studies focusing on receptor dynamics and signaling pathways.

Compared to traditional methods of gene manipulation, our RAMP2 knockout cell lines ensure high specificity and efficiency, reducing off-target effects and providing more reliable data. Offered in various mammalian backgrounds, they cater to diverse research needs, allowing for experimental flexibility while delivering consistent results.

For researchers and clinicians aiming to enhance their understanding of receptor biology or develop novel therapeutic strategies, RAMP2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines offer unparalleled value.
