RAD18 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: RAD18

Official Full Name: RAD18 E3 ubiquitin protein ligaseprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is highly similar to S. cerevisiae DNA damage repair protein Rad18. Yeast Rad18 functions through its interaction with Rad6, which is an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme required for post-replication repair of damaged DNA. Similar to its yeast counterpart, this protein is able to interact with the human homolog of yeast Rad6 protein through a conserved ring-finger motif. Mutation of this motif results in defective replication of UV-damaged DNA and hypersensitivity to multiple mutagens. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

RAD18 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are sophisticated biological tools engineered to study the role and mechanisms of the RAD18 gene in DNA damage response and repair pathways. These cell lines are generated using advanced CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology, effectively creating a complete knockout of the RAD18 gene, which is crucial for facilitating homologous recombination repair and regulating post-replication DNA repair processes.

The primary function of RAD18 is to mediate the recruitment of key repair proteins to sites of DNA damage, thereby ensuring genomic stability. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, researchers can observe the effects of RAD18 deficiency on cellular processes, allowing for a deeper understanding of how impaired DNA repair contributes to various pathologies, including cancer development. Such insights are vital for advancing therapeutic strategies aimed at enhancing cancer treatment efficacy by exploiting DNA damage response pathways.

The scientific importance of RAD18 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to both research and clinical environments, as they provide a reliable platform for drug screening, mechanisms of DNA repair studies, and exploring cellular responses to DNA-damaging agents. Moreover, they enable researchers to develop targeted therapies by identifying vulnerabilities in cancer cells with disrupted DNA repair capabilities.

What sets our RAD18 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternatives is the rigorous validation of gene knockout efficiency and the robust performance in various experimental settings. Our products are derived from high-quality, well-characterized cellular models ensuring reproducibility and reliability in results.
