Gene: PTPN1
Official Full Name: protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 1provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is the founding member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which was isolated and identified based on its enzymatic activity and amino acid sequence. PTPs catalyze the hydrolysis of the phosphate monoesters specifically on tyrosine residues. Members of the PTP family share a highly conserved catalytic motif, which is essential for the catalytic activity. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP has been shown to act as a negative regulator of insulin signaling by dephosphorylating the phosphotryosine residues of insulin receptor kinase. This PTP was also reported to dephosphorylate epidermal growth factor receptor kinase, as well as JAK2 and TYK2 kinases, which implicated the role of this PTP in cell growth control, and cell response to interferon stimulation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

PTPN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered mammalian cells in which the Protein-Tyrosine Phosphatase, Non-Receptor Type 1 (PTPN1) gene has been inactivated. PTPN1 plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including signal transduction, cell growth, and apoptosis, by dephosphorylating tyrosine residues on target proteins. This knockout model is invaluable in studying the biological consequences of PTPN1 deficiency and understanding its implications in diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.
The primary mechanism of action of PTPN1 involves modulating signaling pathways that regulate cellular survival and proliferation. By using these knockout cell lines, researchers can elucidate the specific signaling pathways affected, measure downstream effects, and characterize the phenotypic changes resulting from the absence of PTPN1. This makes them a powerful tool in both basic research and drug discovery, facilitating the identification of therapeutic targets.
The scientific importance of PTPN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to their applications in various research settings, such as pharmacology, toxicology, and cancer biology. Researchers can utilize these cells to perform high-throughput screening of therapeutic compounds or to conduct functional assays that investigate the impact of genetic modifications on cellular behavior.
What sets our PTPN1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternatives is the exceptional specificity and reliability of the knockout, achieved through advanced CRISPR/Cas9 genome-editing technology. This ensures a precise and uniform genetic modification, reducing the variability associated with less reliable genetic editing methods. Additionally, our cell lines are validated for consistent performance in various assays, which enhances their trustworthiness in experimental setups.
For researchers and clinicians, the availability of PTPN1 knockout models translates to enhanced understanding of cellular mechanisms and disease pathways, ultimately driving innovations in therapeutic development. The ability to study the loss of function in a controlled environment empowers the scientific community to explore novel treatments for diseases linked to PTPN1.
