PDGFB Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: PDGFB

Official Full Name: platelet derived growth factor subunit Bprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the protein family comprised of both platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF) and vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF). The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate platelet-derived growth factor subunit B, which can homodimerize, or alternatively, heterodimerize with the related platelet-derived growth factor subunit A. These proteins bind and activate PDGF receptor tyrosine kinases, which play a role in a wide range of developmental processes. Mutations in this gene are associated with meningioma. Reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 22 and 17, at sites where this gene and that for collagen type 1, alpha 1 are located, are associated with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, a rare skin tumor. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Background

PDGFB Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cells designed to lack the expression of the platelet-derived growth factor B (PDGFB) gene. This innovative product serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation in various biological contexts. PDGFB plays a critical role in angiogenesis, wound healing, and the development of connective tissues, making these knockout cell lines essential for dissecting the signaling pathways influenced by PDGFB.

Functionally, PDGFB knockout cell lines enable researchers to observe the effects of PDGFB deficiency on cellular behaviors, allowing for an in-depth analysis of how these cells respond to growth factors and other external stimuli. The absence of PDGFB can provide insights into disease mechanisms, particularly those associated with fibrotic conditions and certain cancers, where PDGFB signaling is often aberrant.

The scientific importance of PDGFB Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends beyond basic research; they offer significant applications in therapeutic development and pharmacological testing. By understanding how PDGFB influences cellular dynamics, scientists can identify potential drug targets or markers for disease progression, contributing to improved patient outcomes.

What sets our PDGFB Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternatives is our commitment to quality and reproducibility. Each cell line is validated through stringent testing to confirm the integrity of the knockout, ensuring robust experimental results. Moreover, our cells come with comprehensive support documentation and recommendations for experimental design, facilitating a smoother integration into research protocols.
