PBX1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: PBX1

Official Full Name: PBX homeobox 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a nuclear protein that belongs to the PBX homeobox family of transcriptional factors. Studies in mice suggest that this gene may be involved in the regulation of osteogenesis and required for skeletal patterning and programming. A chromosomal translocation, t(1;19) involving this gene and TCF3/E2A gene, is associated with pre-B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The resulting fusion protein, in which the DNA binding domain of E2A is replaced by the DNA binding domain of this protein, transforms cells by constitutively activating transcription of genes regulated by the PBX protein family. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2017]

Background

PBX1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cell lines that have had the PBX1 gene specifically inactivated. PBX1 (Pre-B cell leukemia transcription factor 1) is a critical transcription factor involved in various developmental processes, cellular differentiation, and oncogenesis. The knockout of this gene provides a powerful tool for studying its biological role and elucidating its contribution to diseases, particularly in the context of cancer and hematopoiesis.

The functionality of these cell lines hinges on the precise CRISPR/Cas9 technology, which allows for targeted gene disruption, thereby enabling researchers to investigate the downstream effects of PBX1 loss. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, scientists can accurately assess changes in cellular behavior, including alterations in proliferation, differentiation pathways, and responses to environmental stimuli. This capability is crucial for understanding the mechanistic pathways associated with PBX1 and its involvement in various biological phenomena.

From a scientific standpoint, PBX1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are invaluable in research settings focused on oncology and developmental biology. They offer a platform for exploring PBX1's role in leukemia and other malignancies, promoting advancements in targeted therapies and personalized medicine approaches. Moreover, these lines can serve as a fundamental research basis for pharmacological studies that identify compounds targeting PBX1-related pathways.

One of the unique selling points of PBX1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is their high specificity and reliability compared to alternatives such as chemical inhibitors or non-targeted knockdown strategies. These cell lines provide a cleaner and more controlled approach to studying the loss of function of PBX1, minimizing off-target effects that can confound results.

Researchers and clinicians will find significant value in incorporating PBX1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines into their studies, as they facilitate the acceleration of insights into disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. Our company prides itself on its expertise in cellular engineering, providing high-quality products that support cutting-edge research and contribute to advancements in the biological sciences.
