MAN2B1 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: MAN2B1

Official Full Name: mannosidase alpha class 2B member 1provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene encodes an enzyme that hydrolyzes terminal, non-reducing alpha-D-mannose residues in alpha-D-mannosides. Its activity is necessary for the catabolism of N-linked carbohydrates released during glycoprotein turnover and it is member of family 38 of glycosyl hydrolases. The full length protein is processed in two steps. First, a 49 aa leader sequence is cleaved off and the remainder of the protein is processed into 3 peptides of 70 kDa, 42 kDa (D) and 13/15 kDa (E). Next, the 70 kDa peptide is further processed into three peptides (A, B and C). The A, B and C peptides are disulfide-linked. Defects in this gene have been associated with lysosomal alpha-mannosidosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Background

MAN2B1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are a specialized biological product designed to facilitate research and clinical applications focusing on gene function and genetic disorders. These cell lines are engineered to possess a targeted deletion of the MAN2B1 gene, which encodes an enzyme involved in the metabolism of complex carbohydrates. By creating a cellular model devoid of this gene's influence, researchers can systematically investigate the biological consequences of its absence, offering valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases associated with glycoprotein metabolism.

The key functions of MAN2B1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines hinge on their ability to simulate the physiological and pathological conditions resulting from a lack of MAN2B1 activity. This knockout approach allows scientists to explore various cellular pathways, including those related to lysosomal storage disorders, revealing the intricacies of glycan processing and the cellular responses involved in these conditions. By employing techniques such as RNA sequencing and metabolomic analyses, researchers can discover compensatory mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets arising from the absence of MAN2B1.

The scientific significance of these cell lines extends to both research and clinical settings, playing a crucial role in the development of novel treatments. With glycosylation defects being implicated in many diseases, including certain congenital disorders, cancer, and neurodegeneration, MAN2B1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines serve as a critical tool for validating drug candidates and exploring gene therapy approaches.

One of the standout advantages of our MAN2B1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines is their robust validation and stability, ensuring reproducible results essential for scientific rigor. Unlike alternative cell models that may exhibit variability or lack the specific genetic alterations necessary for targeted studies, these cell lines provide a reliable platform for focused research endeavors.

For researchers and clinicians, the value of employing MAN2B1 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their unique capacity to bridge the gap between basic and applied sciences, ultimately accelerating the progression of innovative therapeutic strategies. Our commitment to excellence in genetic engineering and cell line development underscores our expertise, ensuring that our products stand out in the realm of biological research tools. This ensures that scientists have access to precisely characterized cell lines designed to propel their discoveries forward.
