KRT7 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: KRT7

Official Full Name: keratin 7provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the simple epithelia lining the cavities of the internal organs and in the gland ducts and blood vessels. The genes encoding the type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. Alternative splicing may result in several transcript variants; however, not all variants have been fully described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

KRT7 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically modified cell lines specifically engineered to lack the expression of the keratin 7 (KRT7) gene, a critical component of the intermediate filament proteins that play essential roles in cellular structure and function. These cell lines facilitate the study of keratin-related diseases and the molecular mechanisms underlying epithelial cell behavior. By utilizing advanced CRISPR/Cas9 technology for the knockout process, these cell lines enable researchers to precisely investigate the impact of KRT7 loss on pathways relevant to cancer biology, wound healing, and tissue polarization.

The primary function of KRT7 involves providing structural integrity to epithelial cells, and its knockout provides a unique model for studying dysregulated keratin pathways in various pathologies. The absence of KRT7 can precipitate changes in cell morphology, differentiation, and motility, offering insights into cellular responses to stress and injury. In clinical settings, these cell lines can serve as platforms for drug screening, allowing for the identification of therapeutic agents that might target KRT7-related pathways.

Compared to conventional gene editing techniques, KRT7 Gene Knockout Cell Lines excel through their precision, efficiency, and reproducibility, significantly reducing the time and resources necessary for experimental validation. They offer a more consistent and reliable alternative to primary cell cultures, which often exhibit heterogeneous properties that can confound results. Furthermore, the comprehensive characterization provided with each cell line ensures that researchers can accurately track phenotypic changes and molecular responses.

The value of KRT7 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends beyond basic research; they are invaluable for drug discovery, biomarker identification, and understanding disease mechanisms, making them essential tools for both researchers and clinicians. Our company is committed to advancing scientific research by providing high-quality, rigorously validated biological products, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries and improved healthcare outcomes.
