GALR2 Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: GALR2

Official Full Name: galanin receptor 2provided by HGNC

Gene Summary: Galanin is an important neuromodulator present in the brain, gastrointestinal system, and hypothalamopituitary axis. It is a 30-amino acid non-C-terminally amidated peptide that potently stimulates growth hormone secretion, inhibits cardiac vagal slowing of heart rate, abolishes sinus arrhythmia, and inhibits postprandial gastrointestinal motility. The actions of galanin are mediated through interaction with specific membrane receptors that are members of the 7-transmembrane family of G protein-coupled receptors. GALR2 interacts with the N-terminal residues of the galanin peptide. The primary signaling mechanism for GALR2 is through the phospholipase C/protein kinase C pathway (via Gq), in contrast to GALR1, which communicates its intracellular signal by inhibition of adenylyl cyclase through Gi. However, it has been demonstrated that GALR2 couples efficiently to both the Gq and Gi proteins to simultaneously activate 2 independent signal transduction pathways. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Background

GALR2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a groundbreaking advancement in molecular biology research, designed to facilitate studies on galanin receptor 2 (GALR2) functions and its role in various physiological and pathological conditions. These genetically modified cell lines have been engineered to specifically disrupt the GALR2 gene, allowing researchers to investigate the receptor's involvement in neurotransmission, metabolic processes, and cellular signaling pathways without the confounding effects of the endogenous protein.

The primary function of the GALR2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to provide a controlled environment to study the absence of GALR2, which can reveal critical insights into its biological significance. The mechanism of action centers on the targeted deletion of the GALR2 gene, achieved through gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, researchers can observe changes in physiological behavior that occur when GALR2 is not expressed, shedding light on receptor-specific pathways and potential therapeutic interventions.

This product holds considerable scientific importance, particularly in researching neurodegenerative diseases, mood disorders, and metabolic syndromes where GALR2 is implicated. In clinical settings, understanding the role of GALR2 could lead to the development of novel treatment strategies targeting receptor pathways, enhancing therapeutic efficacy and safety.

What sets our GALR2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternative models is their high specificity and reliability, ensuring reproducibility in experimental results. Furthermore, these cell lines are provided with comprehensive support from our expert team, including assay development and troubleshooting guidance, making them ideal for both seasoned researchers and those new to gene knockout studies.
