Gene: CYTH3
Official Full Name: cytohesin 3provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the PSCD (pleckstrin homology, Sec7 and coiled-coil domains) family. PSCD family members have identical structural organization that consists of an N-terminal coiled-coil motif, a central Sec7 domain, and a C-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain. The coiled-coil motif is involved in homodimerization, the Sec7 domain contains guanine-nucleotide exchange protein (GEP) activity, and the PH domain interacts with phospholipids and is responsible for association of PSCDs with membranes. Members of this family appear to mediate the regulation of protein sorting and membrane trafficking. This encoded protein is involved in the control of Golgi structure and function, and it may have a physiological role in regulating ADP-ribosylation factor protein 6 (ARF) functions, in addition to acting on ARF1. CYTH3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a transformative tool designed for researchers and clinical laboratories engaged in cellular and molecular biology studies. These cell lines are engineered to lack the CYTH3 gene, which encodes for a member of the cyclophilin family of proteins known to play critical roles in various cellular processes, including signal transduction, membrane trafficking, and cellular response to stress. The precise knockout of this gene facilitates the investigation of its functional implications in both health and disease contexts.
The key mechanism underlying the utility of CYTH3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines involves the use of advanced gene-editing technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9, allowing for targeted modifications at the genetic level. By eliminating the expression of the CYTH3 gene, these cell lines enable researchers to delineate pathways, evaluate compensatory mechanisms, and assess the impact of CYTH3 on cellular functions such as proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. This functional insight is critical, particularly in studying conditions like cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, where CYTH3's role may elucidate novel therapeutic targets.
Scientifically, these knockout cell lines are invaluable for both fundamental research and translational applications. Researchers can leverage these models for drug discovery, investigating how compounds interact with pathways influenced by CYTH3, and potentially identifying biomarkers for personalized medicine approaches. Additionally, they offer a platform for studying gene-environment interactions, which can reveal how genetic predispositions may affect disease susceptibility in an increasingly complex biological landscape.
What sets CYTH3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from traditional knockout or wild-type alternatives is the specificity and reliability of the genetic alteration, coupled with the availability of extensive characterization data. This assurance of quality enables researchers to confidently base their experimental designs on the unique attributes of these cell lines rather than generic models.
For researchers and clinicians looking to advance their scientific inquiry or experimental therapies, the adoption of CYTH3 Gene Knockout Cell Lines promises significant insights and novel approaches, ultimately accelerating the pace of discovery.
