Gene: ATP2A2
Official Full Name: ATPase sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ transporting 2provided by HGNC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes one of the SERCA Ca(2+)-ATPases, which are intracellular pumps located in the sarcoplasmic or endoplasmic reticula of the skeletal muscle. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the translocation of calcium from the cytosol into the sarcoplasmic reticulum lumen, and is involved in regulation of the contraction/relaxation cycle. Mutations in this gene cause Darier-White disease, also known as keratosis follicularis, an autosomal dominant skin disorder characterized by loss of adhesion between epidermal cells and abnormal keratinization. Other types of mutations in this gene have been associated with various forms of muscular dystrophies. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. ATP2A2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines represent a crucial advancement in molecular biology research, specifically designed to facilitate the study of intracellular calcium homeostasis and its implications in various diseases. The ATP2A2 gene encodes for one of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺-ATPases, which plays a pivotal role in the regulation of calcium ion concentrations within cells. By knocking out this gene, these specialized cell lines allow researchers to elucidate the mechanisms underlying calcium signaling pathways, which are essential for diverse cellular processes, including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and apoptosis.
The primary function of these cell lines is to provide a stable platform for the investigation of calcium-dependent processes. With ATP2A2 knocked out, the cells present altered calcium dynamics, enabling researchers to explore the effects of impaired calcium transport on cellular function and disease manifestations. These models are critical in understanding various pathological conditions, such as cardiac and skeletal muscle disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and certain cancers, where dysregulation of calcium signaling is often implicated.
The scientific importance of ATP2A2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines extends to their application in both basic research and translational studies. They serve as a powerful tool for drug discovery, allowing for the screening of compounds aimed at restoring calcium homeostasis or mitigating the effects of calcium-related pathophysiology. Moreover, these cell lines can significantly contribute to the development of gene therapy strategies by providing insights into potential therapeutic targets.
What sets ATP2A2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines apart from alternative models is their tailored specificity and the robustness of their genetic modification. Unlike conventional cell lines that require multiple transfections or long-term selection processes, these knockout lines offer immediate access to the desired genetic modification, significantly reducing the time and resources spent on preliminary experiments.
For researchers and clinicians, the value of ATP2A2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines lies in their ability to generate reproducible results that can enhance our understanding of calcium's role in health and disease. The implications of manipulating calcium signaling extend into numerous therapeutic areas, making these cell lines an indispensable asset in modern biological research.
Our company’s extensive expertise in cellular and molecular biology ensures that ATP2A2 Gene Knockout Cell Lines are produced with the highest standards of quality and precision, equipping researchers with reliable tools necessary for groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of cell biology and medicine.
