ASPH Knockout Cell Lines

Gene: ASPH

Official Full Name: aspartate beta-hydroxylaseprovided by HGNC

Gene Summary: This gene is thought to play an important role in calcium homeostasis. The gene is expressed from two promoters and undergoes extensive alternative splicing. The encoded set of proteins share varying amounts of overlap near their N-termini but have substantial variations in their C-terminal domains resulting in distinct functional properties. The longest isoforms (a and f) include a C-terminal Aspartyl/Asparaginyl beta-hydroxylase domain that hydroxylates aspartic acid or asparagine residues in the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains of some proteins, including protein C, coagulation factors VII, IX, and X, and the complement factors C1R and C1S. Other isoforms differ primarily in the C-terminal sequence and lack the hydroxylase domain, and some have been localized to the endoplasmic and sarcoplasmic reticulum. Some of these isoforms are found in complexes with calsequestrin, triadin, and the ryanodine receptor, and have been shown to regulate calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Some isoforms have been implicated in metastasis. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Background

ASPH Gene Knockout Cell Lines are genetically engineered cell lines in which the aspartate beta-hydroxylase (ASPH) gene has been inactivated, providing a powerful tool for investigators seeking to explore the functional roles of this critical enzyme. ASPH plays a significant role in post-translational modifications of proteins and has been implicated in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. By utilizing these knockout cell lines, researchers can study the specific contributions of the ASPH protein without its confounding effects, allowing for a more precise investigation of biological pathways.

The primary function of ASPH Gene Knockout Cell Lines is to enable the dissection of the biological consequences of ASPH's absence. This is achieved through a loss-of-function phenotype that facilitates the analysis of downstream signaling pathways and phenotypic changes. As such, these cell lines serve as a vital resource for drug discovery, biomarker identification, and therapeutic development, especially in cancer research, where ASPH has been shown to have oncogenic properties.

The scientific importance of ASPH Gene Knockout Cell Lines cannot be overstated. Their applications span basic and applied research, including studies on cancer biology, metabolic disorders, and therapeutic interventions. They provide an invaluable model platform for understanding the broader implications of enzyme activities and their interactions with various cellular mechanisms and therapeutic compounds.

One of the key advantages of using our ASPH Gene Knockout Cell Lines is their high specificity and reproducibility compared to other experimental methods, such as RNA interference or pharmacological inhibition, which may produce off-target effects. These knockout lines offer a robust model that allows researchers to draw clearer conclusions regarding ASPH's role, thereby accelerating the pace of discovery.

In summary, ASPH Gene Knockout Cell Lines are a vital resource for researchers and clinicians alike, delivering unparalleled insights into the biological functions of the ASPH gene. With our company’s longstanding expertise in genetic engineering and commitment to providing high-quality biological products, we are proud to offer these essential cell lines that enhance your research capabilities and advance scientific knowledge.
